I didn't expect myself to blog for tonight since i'm pretty much drained out from a long day of school. But, i gotto share some of my joy with you guys. Eh, i'm not exactly that overjoyed lah. Not OVER-joyed, just joyed. LOL!!
Daddy forwarded an email to me on 3rd June, informing me that there's a some sort of writing contest.
Anws, this was stated in the forwarded email..
In conjunction with "It's My Life!", a Teen Story Book Exhibition will be held at the *Scape Youth Centre from July to August 2008. A collection of inspiring stories written by teens - about how someone or something has changed their lives, will be exhibited.
Is your teenage child a writer at heart? Encourage him/her to participate. This is what he/she has to do:Pen the story in less than 1,000 words within one A4 page, and decorate the page.
And i wrote & sent it before 15 June. Received an email saying that my story will be featured in an Art Installation exhibition!! WHEE~

And fyi, i wrote it ONLY because the Canon prizes were attractive. LOL! But sigh, wasn't told that i won any. It's alright, tho'.
:D
However, i've been invited for a Tea Party on 7th July from 5-6p @ *scape Youth Centre. Still thinking if i should go. I SHOULD RIGHT?! BUTTTTTT, i've got school on that day!
So, just in case you love me too much & can't bear to close this blog (tee-heee-heeee~), you can read the entry that i sent in..
All right, this whole thing might sound corny but I’m sure some of us may have someone who has changed our lives in a way or another. My maternal grandmother, whom I call ‘Popo’, has always been there for me since I was a child.
Since my parents had to work full time when I was young, Popo took care of me for many years and the bond between us is still standing strong. I can still recall the night when my parents came to fetch me home but I stubbornly held onto the door knob, crying and screaming, refusing to go home. I kept screaming, “I want to stay with Popo tonight!! I don’t want go home!!” My parents threatened to beat me but I refused. My grandmother cried too, and later, she asked my parents to allow me to stay over for just one night and they did. From then on, I know that there is nothing my Popo can’t do to keep my protected.
My grandmother is someone I respect most. I have seen her gone through thick and thin, but till this day, she is still standing strong. Popo has always taught me to be independent and learn not to always rely on others, for example, my parents, boyfriend and friends. She taught me so many things in life that partly mould me to who I am today.
Popo has taught me how important it is to respect others. She often tells me that ‘respect begets respect’ since life is a cycle, what goes around comes around. Therefore, I should do unto people what I want them to do unto me. Though all her advices may sound very cliché, all of them helped me to gain trust from people around me.
Popo’s ‘respect begets respect’ policy helped me to gain more friends over the years and most of them are so close to me, they seem to be so part of my life now. I respect my friends for who they are, not judging them by their looks or whatever status they have. Popo taught me how to care for friends like the way I care for my family because she always says, “You might not know if you need their help in future.”
Every time I see the wrinkles on her face and hands, they seem to show the number of ups and downs in her life, and the more I should heed advice from someone who already has almost 80 years of experience. Popo has also taught me not to take things for granted; always reminding me that somewhere in a certain part of the world, there may be someone who longs to be in my shoes. This is why I always remind myself that I should be contented with my life and not keep ranting on what I’m lacking of.
I feel so much happier and satisfied with who I am and what I have.
Though Popo has migrated to Sydney together with my maternal relatives a couple of years ago and though she’s growing older each day, her teachings will always be locked in my heart and I’ll make sure they will still be with me when I grow older. And I want to do my lovely grandmother proud, giving my best in everything I do because she is the one person whom I respect and love most.
Thank you, Popo. I love you.
Super duper short & simple story right. Didn't bother to crack my brains to use bombastic words. LOL! AND.. i didn't even bother to decorate the page & the number of words was only 500+. HAHAHAH. Y'know how lazy i can get now, dn't you?
